Hi John,

Congress has an opportunity to help farmers and ranchers thrive for generations by empowering them to help stabilize the climate and build resilience to more variable and extreme weather.

The farm bill, which is considered by Congress every five years, sets federal agriculture and nutrition policy. It also reauthorizes popular programs that help farmers implement climate-smart agriculture and conservation practices to reduce pollution and protect their businesses. In fact, these programs are so popular that only one-third of applicants are selected to participate each year due to funding restraints!

But this year’s bill is a little different. Thanks to the Inflation Reduction Act, the farm bill was given an extra $20 billion to fund climate-smart programs that will help farms reduce their emissions, become more resilient and empower farmers to be a bigger part of the climate solution. But we need to make sure that happens.

This Friday, I’ll be hosting a special briefing with EDF Action and agriculture experts so you can learn more about what is in the farm bill, why it matters and how you can help protect climate and conservation funding and programs. Join us to learn more! RSVP now: [link removed]

Special virtual briefing: The farm bill & climate-smart agriculture Friday, November 3rd | Noon - 1 PM ET Virtual

Agriculture both contributes to climate change and is an essential part of the solution, The agricultural sector produces about 10% of the U.S. greenhouse gas emissions. Farmers across the country recognize this and have been asking for more climate-smart ag programs that help tackle climate change and help their farms become more resilient to it.

Funding for innovative agriculture practices will help farms tackle climate change, become more resilient to it, support rural jobs and cut the costs of farming!

Join me and EDF Action this Friday to learn about climate-smart agriculture, the farm bill and how you can help! RSVP today!
