Last week, organizers and leaders from the CPD Network gathered in Orlando, Florida to attend CAMP: Creating Action Movement and Power. Over 110 staff and members from 34 affiliates across 25 states and Puerto Rico came together for a multi-track training program that creates opportunities for CPD Network affiliates to grow as leaders, strengthen their organizations, and enhance our ability to create change as a collective movement.

Gatherings like these are crucial to building the power we need to realize our vision of a truly popular democracy – imaginative and sustained participation by us all. [Can we count on your support?]([link removed])

Created in collaboration with CPD Network leaders, CPD CAMP consisted of nine tracks focused on Lead Organizers, Politics, Communications, and six of our national campaigns. Participants explored a wide variety of topics from digital communication to a broad landscape of peer-to-peer coaching and leadership development strategies. In addition, this year’s CAMP featured our first network-wide shared ideology training pilot. Over 60 affiliate staff and members completed a “train-the-trainer†program which helped to prepare them to lead shared ideology training and political education at their home organizations, over time, across the network.

CPD CAMP generated stronger bonds and fueled the collective responsibility of our network to continue fighting for our communities. This convening enables the CPD Network to ground itself in a universally applicable approach to building powerful and sustainable people’s organizations that are centered in the values held and the lived experiences of our affiliates. This training also provided a space for participants to deepen their personal leadership while building strategic and tactical capacity to strengthen our growing network of resilient people’s organizations, moving our communities beyond this political moment towards a more progressive reality. In 2020, the impact and meaning of this strategic and purposeful approach to building our network is even greater.

This important work allows us to catalyze and support the upsurge of resistance energy and activity, to protect vital victories of the past, to win new progressive change, and to elevate our collective voice and vision for justice as we build a country where all people enjoy the freedom to thrive. Without your support, this work is not possible. [Please help us continue to mobilize and empower communities most impacted by injustice and inequality.]([link removed])
