John,

Like many of you, I was horrified to learn the news of the shooting at the Texas State Fair.

We should not have to live like this.

Our children shouldn’t have to live in fear when they go to school, the grocery store, the mall, and now the State Fair.

And let’s be clear, John: The problem is the loose gun laws in Texas that allow anybody that’s 18 and up to buy a gun like it’s a slurpee at 7-Eleven.

This is a terrifying reality we’re living in, and it’s the direct fault of the Republican politicians in Texas right now.

The loose gun laws that Ted Cruz supports terrorize Texans and make us less safe. He’s everything that’s wrong with Washington and more. He’s spent years blocking common-sense gun violence prevention measures to keep us safe.

I’ve had enough, and I know you have too.

I have worked tirelessly to advance legislation to reduce gun violence in Texas, and I’m ready to escalate this fight. This has got to come to an end. But I need your help.
