Dear Friend,

Advocates like you show up and speak up during every comment period – and it makes a difference. The Biden administration recently ordered federal agencies to do everything in their power to restore wild salmon and steelhead populations in the Columbia and Snake rivers of the Pacific Northwest. The Biden administration also proposed protections against future fossil fuel development across Alaska’s Arctic lands, but we need to advocate for strongest possible protections. These two developments could not have happened without this community taking action.

Earthjustice is involved in more than 500 legal matters, each with its own twists and turns, and keeping them going in the right direction is a team effort. That’s why action-taking is so important, and we thank you for speaking up for your values.

Our work is not over, and we need you to stay in these fights. Please click here to take all of the actions below on one page.

Tell the Bureau of Land Managementwe need the strongest possible protections for the Arctic

The Arctic represents a critical last refuge for wildlife. Fossil fuel development puts this irreplaceable ecosystem at risk while threatening our planet. We've advocated for decades in courts and Congress to protect these lands, and we're not done yet. There are two comment periods on the Arctic that need your input.

Tell Congress to breach the Snake River dams

Salmon in the Pacific Northwest are in crisis. Federal dams on the Columbia and Snake Rivers have taken a toll on these iconic species, and now many salmon populations are close to extinction. The best science shows that removing four dams on the lower Snake River can save these fish — allowing them to migrate safely to and from the best salmon habitat. Help us push the administration to do what it takes to breach the dams.

Restore the Endangered Species Act

The Biden administration just moved closer to undoing the Trump administration’s unprecedented damage to the regulations that interpret the Endangered Species Act. For 50 years, the Act’s served as the last line of defense for countless species and habitats. Today, it is our strongest tool for tackling the worsening biodiversity crisis, which is why the Biden administration must fix the rules that implement it.

Protect our public lands from fossil fuels

For decades, the federal oil and gas program has shortchanged taxpayers by providing financial giveaways to oil and gas companies. The oil and gas industry currently leaves the public on the hook for cleaning up the messes they make – but the Bureau of Land Management is developing new regulations to unwind some of these subsidies. Tell the Bureau of Land Management to end financial giveaways to the fossil fuel industry.
