Since former Republican Congressman Mike Rogers filed his FEC report, we have been learning a lot about who is funding his campaign and where his contributions are coming from. Here are three important numbers you should know:

$120,000: That’s how much PAC money Mike Rogers received in the first 24 days of his campaign – from other Republicans supporting his race as well as from corporate PACs backed by a private prison company and Elon Musk’s SpaceX PAC.

$4.8 million: This is how much corporate PAC money Rogers took throughout his time in Congress. Corporate PACs loved supporting Mike Rogers because they knew he would take their check and then vote their way on the floor of the House. Whether it was defense contractors, big pharmaceutical companies, or Wall Street PACs, Mike Rogers cashed in at the expense of Michiganders.

$0: Elissa has taken $0 in corporate PAC money since she first ran for Congress in 2018. She never wanted her constituents to question why she was voting a certain way, or have any doubt that she was fighting for their interests, and their interests alone. And unlike some, she stuck to the pledge even when she got elected.

Despite not taking corporate PAC money, Elissa has gone toe-to-toe with corporate-backed GOP opponents and won. How? By relying on lots and lots of people giving what they can, when they can over time. And the number one sources of individual contributions to this campaign? Emails like this one.

So while we know that Mike Rogers will see a flood of corporate PAC money throughout his campaign, we also know that contributions to emails like these add up in a big way. They are what power our operation and help us make strategic decisions about when we hire staff, when we will air TV ads, and how we build out our ground game.
