After the House GOP settled on a far-right, Christian nationalist as their new Speaker on Wednesday, Congress immediately passed a one-sided resolution giving Israel our country’s stamp of approval to enact genocide against the people of Palestine under the guise of ‘self-defense.’

With the Meeks-McCaul resolution, both Republicans and Democrats are not just ignoring, but actively approving the death of thousands of Palestinians at the hands of the Israeli government — in addition to the harm and displacement of millions of people.

Only ten members of Congress stood on the right side of history and opposed this measure, including Justice Democrats-endorsed Representatives Jamaal Bowman, Cori Bush, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Summer Lee, Ilhan Omar, and Rashida Tlaib.

These courageous progressive leaders were already facing a barrage of hateful attacks for demanding a ceasefire; now, it’s only going to get worse.

The passing of this resolution comes after President Biden requested another $14.3 billion for Israel, $11 billion which is dedicated to more missiles and other military weapons being used to wipe out Gaza.

Our diverse, progressive bloc refused to greenlight this unconditional military funding for a far-right government hell-bent on eradicating the Palestinian people. Instead, we are calling for a ceasefire and all hostages to be released to end this scourge of violence.

AIPAC was already spending millions of dollars and recruiting candidates to challenge and unseat Summer, Ilhan, and Jamaal in 2024. Now, we need to be even more prepared with the resources needed to fight back and defend the Squad next year.

Justice Democrats is doing everything in our power to re-elect the Squad and keep human rights champions in Congress: if you can, pitch in ANY amount you can afford to fuel our work before Tuesday’s end-of-month deadline.
