I think that our so-called “leaders” in government spend far too much time talking and not nearly enough time actually listening to the people that they represent.
During my time in Congress, I’ve tried to be a different kind of representative - one who takes that word seriously and strives to be a voice for the people in our community instead focusing on divisiveness and vitriol.
I’ve deliberately focused on the issues that I hear from people about all the time: clean water, helping veterans, and lowering taxes, just to name a few. I believe we are strongest when we work together on these issues - focusing on what we can accomplish for the common good rather than how we can just help ourselves.
