Team — Today is National Immigrants Day!
October 28 is a day that celebrates the achievements, resilience, and power of immigrants in the United States.
Our country is at its best when we welcome immigrants and asylum seekers. The Statue of Liberty says on its base: “Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free”.
We want our country to start living up to those values. Everyone deserves a safe place to call home, and our country has the power to give migrants and asylum seekers in dangerous situations a better life.
Immigrants are an undeniable force. We are resilient amidst attacks on our character, our rights, and our freedom to move. Immigrants fight back against injustice, and most importantly — we show up and support each other, time and time again. It takes all of us to create the conditions to be able to not only survive but thrive.
That’s why I’m so proud to be a part of this community. Immigrants are the leaders of the movement and the change makers who will propel our country forward — and the immigrant youth at UWDA are leading the charge.
Today, on National Immigrants Day, we are counting on the generous support of grassroots donors like you to sustain our fights to abolish ICE, dismantle the deportation machine, and win permanent protections for ALL undocumented people. It’s going to take immigrants and allies alike to build the future we want to see.
Join us in our National Immigrants Day celebration by making a donation to keep up our work for immigrant justice in the weeks and months ahead.
