Congresswoman Tenney's Weekly Newsletter Have questions? Contact Me Here Congratulations Speaker Mike Johnson Congratulations to my dear friend, Speaker Mike Johnson, on being elected Speaker of the United States House of Representatives. Mike Johnson is an inspirational conservative who will restore faith in our government and bring strong, principled leadership to America. Speaker Johnson is committed to restoring transparency to Congress, reining in runaway spending, holding our adversaries accountable, and strengthening oversight of federal bureaucrats. Though 70% of appropriation priorities have already been passed in the House, the remaining appropriations bills will be considered expeditiously. His first action was to immediately open the People's House in order to bring a bipartisan resolution to the floor in support of the nation of Israel, our most important ally in the Middle East. He is also immediately addressing issues critically important to the American people. This starts with direct action on the border crisis, prioritizing legislation to address runaway inflation due to far-left spending under Pelosi and Biden. Mike Johnson will renew our commitment to backing our courageous officers in blue, empowering parents' rights against the hostile agenda imposed by the Biden Administration and its weaponized law enforcement agencies, unleash American energy production which will lead to greater freedom, and prosperity and security for all Americans. House Republicans understand this historic moment for America and are laser-focused on providing leadership, restoring transparency and responsible government, and achieving real results for the American people. Demanding Accountability for Anti-Semitic Video Linked to NYSED Website By recently posting a link with a blatantly anti-Semitic video on the history of the conflict in Israel, the Board of Regents and NYSED have contributed to the widespread disinformation being promoted to our children about the ongoing Israel-Hamas war. This week, I lead my New York Republican colleagues in sending a letter to the Board of Regents and NYSED demanding they answer for promoting this blatant anti-Semitic and anti-Zionist rhetoric and apologize to parents for this vile video. The United States must continue to stand with our Israeli and Jewish brothers and sisters, and that starts by teaching our children factual history about this conflict and emphasizing the blatant anti-Semitism behind these horrific attacks. This week I lead to several initiatives to support Israel's effort to defend themselves and ensure American taxpayer dollars are never inadvertently used to bolster these terrorist attacks or fund terrorist organizations. The HATIKVAHH Act sends a clear and resolute message that the United States will not tolerate the use of its funds to support or enable foreign terrorist organizations. By prohibiting support for international organizations that collaborate with or support terrorist entities, we strengthen our commitment to Israel and our support of global security and peace. Additionally, my legislation to provide targeted security aid to Israel, totaling $14.056 billion, would solidify the United States' commitment to strengthening and advancing Israel's military capabilities in their effort to defend themselves against Palestinian terrorist organizations, such as Hamas, Hezbollah, and Palestinian Islamic Jihad. This bill only includes the funding for Israel, our greatest ally in the Middle East. Congress must swiftly pass these bills to demonstrate our unwavering commitment to Israel! READ MORE: Congress Eyes Crackdown on US Funding for Iran-Backed Terror Orgs Promoting the Production of Generic Medicine in the United States In recent years, drug manufacturing has shifted away from the United States, threatening American jobs and the security of our vital medicine supply chains. To bolster domestic generic medicine production and guard against future supply chain disruptions, I introduced the PILLS Act to incentivize businesses to produce these products in the United States. This legislation is a crucial step to not only re-shore drug production, but also strengthen our domestic supply chains and create American manufacturing jobs. Helping Small Businesses Offer Retirement Plans to Workers Congress must empower and reaffirm our commitment to small businesses across the country by taking steps to grant these economic engines a competitive edge in our economy. This week, I introduced the Retirement Investment in Small Employers Act to enable micro-businesses across NY-24 and the nation to offer their employees robust retirement plans and allow their employees to save for the future. I remain committed to advocating for tax policies that work in favor of our small businesses and hardworking families. READ MORE: What is the RISE Act? Did you know Wayne County is the 3rd highest apple producing county in the nation? On National Apple Day and everyday, we celebrated the hardworking farmers who cultivate these orchards and bring delicious apples to our tables. From all of us in NY-24, we appreciate your dedication to agriculture! Our Community was chosen to be a part of the Regional Technology and Innovation Hubs Program By officially designating the Buffalo-Rochester-Syracuse corridor as a Regional Technology and Innovation Hub, we are set to witness a substantial increase in job opportunities while fortifying the nation's vital supply chains. Our region, which was the home of the Industrial Revolution, will once again see our community be at the forefront of innovation and drive economic and technological progress for our country. I deeply appreciate the bipartisan support from my colleagues, and I am eager to see the opportunities, jobs, and innovative advancements that this Tech Hub designation will bring to our community, our nation, and the world! BUF-ROC-SYR Region Wins Federal Tech Hub Designation Worth Fighting For — Our Elections More Americans than ever before have concerns regarding how elections are administered in our country. Free and fair elections are the cornerstone of our constitutional republic, and voting is one of the most sacred rights and responsibilities we have as Americans. Congress must focus on restoring people’s faith in the democratic process. That's why I launched the House Election Integrity Caucus in Congress to serve as a platform for Members of Congress to come together and proactively educate and inform the American people about issues related to election security and activity, drive commonsense policy solutions to restore faith in the democratic process, and improve the administration of elections. Earlier this month, Louisiana voted to ban Zuckerbucks and foreign money from state elections. I have been the leading voice on ending Zuckerbucks by introducing the "End Zuckerbucks Act" to amend the Internal Revenue Code to prohibit 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organizations from directly funding official election organizations through donations or donated services This is a great step in ensuring that big tech billionaires can’t undermine our democratic process. We must ensure that Americans in every state have confidence in free, fair, accurate, and transparent elections. READ MORE: Election Integrity Caucus Honoring Mark Readademacher On the anniversary of the Grenada invasion, I laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in honor of a member of our community, Mark Readademacher alongside his loved ones. Mark was an Army Ranger who was tragically killed while rescuing the US medical students living there during the invasion. Have news or updates to share? Email me!
