The Future of Flexible Work is Female By Liya Palagashvili


In 2023, Claudia Goldin received the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences for her insights into the gender wage gap and women's labor trends. As the first solo female recipient, she highlighted that the wage disparity could be closed if jobs become more flexible.
In fact, a Kaiser Family Foundation study revealed that 75 percent of mothers would likely return to work given flexible options. Women continue to increasingly embrace independent roles on platforms like Uber Eats, Etsy, and DoorDash. However, there are shortcomings associated with these independent, flexible work arrangements, such as outdated regulations that limit their access to traditional benefits, calling for urgent reforms that allow for choice and portability. In a world where worker preferences have shifted and more value is placed on choice and portability.
