How We're Responding in Israel and Gaza

As humanitarians, we are deeply concerned about all civilians impacted by the violence happening right now. Project HOPE is always committed to delivering lifesaving medical aid where it's needed most.

I know that we are all facing a torrent of heartbreaking news at the moment, but this update can't wait. In short, the health system in Gaza has collapsed. Hospitals are overwhelmed by patients seeking urgent, lifesaving care, and health workers are left operating without anesthesia and basic supplies. Communications from Gaza have completely ceased. Until fuel and additional aid deliveries are permitted to enter, remaining aid and emergency medical operations will likely be brought to a standstill, and more lives will be lost.

We have team members in Israel, and we are prepositioned in Egypt near the Gaza border to help the children and families affected by the horrible violence. In Israel, we've delivered hygiene supplies to displaced families and are helping hospitals with vital medical equipment like defibrillators and support for mental health care.

In Egypt, our teams are working closely with UN agencies and other partners operating in Gaza to provide medical and relief supplies through the Rafah Crossing. As we wait for steady humanitarian access, Project HOPE is prepositioning multiple shipments including six World Health Organization Interagency Emergency Health Kits and seven Trauma and Emergency Surgery Kits — which contain emergency surgical equipment and basic medical supplies to support some 60,000 people for three months. Our partners in Jordan are on standby to deploy medical teams into Gaza if access permits.
