Dear Friends, 

After more than three weeks of Republican infighting that left Congress paralyzed, House Republicans have made extremist Rep. Mike Johnson the Speaker of the House. While I am concerned about Speaker Johnson's priorities, I'm focused on the needs of our district.

Illinois Selected for Two Regional Tech Hubs 

Thanks to the CHIPS and Science Act, which I helped pass last Congress, the Tech Hub program will bring historic investments to Illinois. Communities that have often been overlooked will see investment in good-paying jobs and support for advanced industries to strengthen opportunities in the region.

The Illinois Fermentation and Agriculture Biomanufacturing Tech Hub (iFAB Tech Hub), led by the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, seeks to scale precision fermentation to convert underutilized corn feedstocks into high-value, customized alternative proteins, food ingredients, materials, chemicals, and more. 

The Bloch: End-to-end Quantum Solutions at Scale (The Bloch Tech Hub), led by the Chicago Quantum Exchange (CQE), will leverage Chicago’s research universities, national labs, and industry to increase access to shared-use quantum facilities to meet industry needs and generate good-paying jobs. 

Upcoming October 30th Watseka Post Office Building Renaming Ceremony

On October 30th, I will take part in the official renaming ceremony of the Watseka post office in honor of the late United States Army Sergeant Jeremy Sherman. The event will begin at 10:00 AM at the Watseka Theatre at 218 E. Walnut St., Watseka, IL 60970. This event is open to the public.
