Today I am filing to run for re-election to the U.S. Senate because I believe so strongly in a vision of America that stands for opportunity and justice for everyone, no matter what we look like, where we come from, or which side of the railroad tracks we live on. That America is under threat, but I know that together we can take on the powerful and deliver for the people.

The 2020 election marks a historical crossroads. Since 2016 we have seen the reality of a Trump Presidency and a McConnell Senate. They have packed the courts with unqualified conservative judges. They have extinguished Lady Liberty's torch and locked children in cages. They have fostered hate and bigotry, empowered polluters, taken away people's health care, cozied up to dictators abroad and shunned our allies.

I believe that our nation is better than this, because I've been the beneficiary of America's possibility. After all, I grew up on stories of my grandmother living in a boxcar, yet I was able to go to college and be elected to the U.S. Senate. I still live in the same blue collar neighborhood I grew up in, and see how much tougher it is today for many of my neighbors.

I am running for re-election because I want to fully invest in a future where we stomp out corruption, invest in the building blocks for working families to succeed, and address climate chaos by building a green energy economy.

We see the Supreme Court and Republicans in Congress and the administration single-mindedly twisting our institutions in their own favor.
