Hi, this is Becca Balint. After three weeks without a speaker and three unsuccessful candidates, Republicans finally elected a new speaker earlier this week. The good news is, the House can finally start voting on bills again and get back to work. The bad news is, our new speaker is Mike Johnson - an architect of the efforts to overturn the 2020 elections, and a known opponent of reproductive choice and LGBTQ+ rights. Any member of Congress knows you have to work across the aisle sometimes to get things done, especially in the minority party, but I will never compromise my values. Mike Johnson is a threat to our democracy and to equal rights. Folks, we NEED to elect a Democratic majority in the House next year. There is so much at stake, and I am counting on your support.
