GGJ joins the millions of multiracial, multigenerational, and interfaith communities who are both mourning the loss of life and taking to streets around the world expressing solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza facing the worst bombardment in their history. We are outraged by this violence and condemn Apartheid Israel currently doubling down on
the collective punishment of Palestinians, tightening its nearly 17-year siege of Gaza.
Israeli occupying forces are unequivocally committing genocide. More than 2.3 million Palestinians in Gaza are facing death from bombs, starvation, and displacement. Israel is carpet bombing residential buildings, markets, schools, health facilities, and places of worship, and cutting off all electricity, food, water, and fuel to Gaza.
This is the single largest loss of life for Palestinians since the Nakba: an estimated 7,000+ Palestinians killed as of October 26, and 1,000+ uncounted people trapped underneath rubble. Many more are wounded, separated from families, and in the West Bank, thousands are jailed and detained without due process, raising the number of political prisoners to over 10,000, including 4,000 laborers.
We embrace Palestine as a feminist issue. The devastating impact of military violence is always borne worst by women, who must shoulder both family care and survival work while also defending their homes and territories. The struggle for sovereignty over their land is inextricably linked to the struggle for women’s bodily autonomy.
