Friends,
Much has happened in Washington recently.
On October 7th, hundreds of heavily armed Hamas fighters launched surprise attacks in several regions of Israel, killing more than 1,000 people. Dozens of Americans were murdered, and even more are missing or being held hostage.
In response, I voted to reconfirm the United States’s commitment to Israel, and I authored the most comprehensive legislation in Congress to cut off Iran’s support for Hamas and other of its proxy armies through the No Funds for Iran-Backed Terror Act.
I also served as Chairman of a Judiciary subcommittee hearing to detail and expose the growing national security threat of the Chinese Communist Party’s espionage campaign against America (more here). And, I kept pressure on Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas for his failure to provide information on individuals on the terrorist watchlist encountered at the unsecured southern border.
In oversight, I objected to the State Department’s use of taxpayer funds to pay foreign organizations that censor the free speech rights of Americans and mainstream conservative media platforms. This weaponization of the federal government against the American people must end. Read more here.
Finally, the House of Representatives has elected my friend Congressman Mike Johnson of Louisiana to be Speaker of the House. I’ve worked with him for years on the Judiciary Committee, and I believe he is the right choice to lead us forward. Mike will work very hard every day, he cares deeply about our country, and he will do a terrific job.
