Friends,
COVID-19/coronavirus is on everyone's mind. Check out our post, COVID-19: Sources of Information, for a list of international, federal, Virginia and Fairfax organizations that provide rolling updates and other information about this disease.
April 1, 2020 is Census Day; participating in the Census provides critical data that lawmakers, business owners, teachers, and many others use to provide daily services, products, and support for you and your community. Every year, billions of dollars in federal funding go to hospitals, fire departments, schools, roads, and other resources based on census data. The Census Bureau will mail invitations to households starting next week inviting residents to respond online, by mail or by phone. The March 2 edition of Inside Scoop on Fairfax Public Access has a thorough explanation of the Census as conducted in Fairfax County. Inside Scoop is produced by FCDC/Dranesville member Ben Zuhl.
The FCDC website has a 2020 Democratic Delegate Scorecard to keep track of the allocation of delegates to the July 13-16 Democratic National Convention. To win nomination on the first ballot, a candidate must have at least 1,991 pledged delegates (of 3,979 total pledged delegates). Currently, Joe Biden is at 28.78% and Bernie Sanders is at 25.51% towards that 1,991 pledged delegate threshold.
