Dear Friend,
We are deeply saddened by the extensive suffering and loss resulting from the outbreak of war in Gaza. I wanted to personally connect with you today as someone who is profoundly affected by the recent events. We understand that staying informed on a complex and ever-evolving situation, where countless lives are at stake, can feel hopeless, and it can be hard to know how to help. We want to thank you for your commitment. Your support plays a pivotal role in helping us deliver vital medical care with empathy and compassion to those in urgent need.
At Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), bearing witness is a key principle that drives our work. It's crucial to us to keep you informed about what our staff, many of whom are from Gaza, are seeing in their communities as this crisis unfolds. We want to make sure you saw our email below with the latest updates on this crisis and make you aware of what our teams are also seeing in the West Bank.
Following an airstrike on Jenin refugee camp on October 25, MSF teams at Jenin hospital provided lifesaving medical care to multiple critically injured patients. The airstrike underscores the rising violence in the West Bank, where at least 205 Palestinians, including 31 children, have been killed since October 7. Additionally, we've documented 96 attacks on healthcare facilities in the West Bank, highlighting the need for urgent protection of civilians and healthcare resources.
MSF continues to call for the protection of civilians and healthcare facilities on both sides and for the increased and continuous flow of humanitarian aid, which civilians’ lives depend on. We're asking you to join us in bearing witness to this crisis and bringing emergency medical care where it is needed most.

To date, there have been 75 documented attacks on health care facilities in Gaza according to World Health Organization. This has resulted in the deaths of 16 health workers and impacted 34 health care facilities and 24 ambulances. There are currently 2.2 million people trapped with dwindling access to food, water, electricity, and other essentials. Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) calls for all parties to ensure the safety of medical personnel and civilians.
The complete siege and relentless, unpredictable airstrikes have made it extremely difficult to deliver aid and provide health care. As a result, our medical activities in Gaza are currently very limited.
While some of our colleagues made the difficult decision to move south following the Israeli military’s order to evacuate northern Gaza, others have remained and continue to support lifesaving activities in Al Shifa Hospital in Gaza City, as well as in Al Nasser hospital in the south.
As hospitals are experiencing extreme shortages in medical supplies, we’ve been able to finally make a large donation of medical stock, including medicines and medical equipment, to Al Shifa Hospital. Our teams are also preparing more medical and humanitarian supplies to be sent to Gaza when safe access can be guaranteed.
MSF is committed to supporting civilians affected by the heavy bombardments and siege by the Israeli military in Gaza. We want to be able to provide people with the medical care they need and offer lifesaving humanitarian services, but to do this, we need basic guarantees of safety.
In conflict zones, MSF does not take sides. We deliver care to patients who need it regardless of race, religion, ethnicity, or politics. Our independence—and our ability to respond immediately in a crisis—is made possible through the generous support of our donors like you. Thank you.
Civilians should never be a target of war. MSF must be able to reach people in need of medical care and offer lifesaving medical services. The entry of humanitarian aid and the protection of medical workers must be ensured urgently. Your support is critical to our lifesaving work in Gaza, Sudan, Ukraine, and beyond.
