Support the best plan to return grizzly bears to this wild area.
John,
Although grizzly bears once thrived in the North Cascades of Washington, they’ve been wiped out of the region, with no grizzlies seen there for at least two decades. Now the National Park Service and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service are analyzing options to reintroduce grizzlies to the area — one of the largest wild areas in the lower 48 states.
Under Alternative B, the agencies would release grizzlies into the North Cascades over five to 10 years while strictly limiting any bear-killing. It’s the best plan to get these iconic bears back to this wild area for good.
All the draft plans under consideration come on the heels of a successful Center lawsuit that challenged the Trump administration’s ending of an earlier restoration plan, which was almost final when it was illegally cancelled.
