Dear
John,
After finishing his master’s degree in South Korea in 2011, Basanta Adhikari returned to Nepal with a desire to do meaningful work and make his country a better place.

At that time, Basanta’s thinking had been influenced by populist and left-wing political views. But soon, his mind started to change.

Basanta took part in a research program organized by the Center for Public Policy Research (an Atlas Network partner in India), and that same year, he participated in Atlas Network’s Asia Liberty Forum in Delhi. There, he learned about a worldwide movement of leaders like him that were taking on the challenges of poverty and corruption in their countries, and they were raising their people up with policies that valued freedom and entrepreneurship.

Realizing that these principles were crucial for individual survival and the economic flourishing of his country, Basanta started a new organization called Bikalpa—an Alternative.

Now, with Atlas Network’s support through grants, training, and mentorship with like-minded colleagues from around the globe, Basanta and his team at Bikalpa are helping to better countless peoples’ lives, all the while working towards a freer and more prosperous Nepal.
John,
Basanta’s full and inspiring story is highlighted in our latest issue of Freedom’s Champion magazine, and I wanted to make sure you had a chance to read it. You can access your free digital copy at this secure link: [link removed] ([link removed])

I really hope you’ll take a moment to download this issue. Along with Basanta’s story, you’ll hear about other amazing people who share your love of liberty, like Roxana Nicula, who grew up in communist Romania and now leads a freedom-focused group called Fundalib in Spain.

And you’ll read about Temba Nolutshungu, who is our Sir Anthony Fisher Achievement Award Honoree for 2023. A leader of South Africa's anti-apartheid movement who was twice imprisoned, Temba now works to build a thriving South Africa for all its citizens.

And I can’t forget Adam Bartha, the director of EPICENTER, who is helping to beat back soaring inflation and the cost of living in Europe.

You can now access your free digital copy of Freedom’s Champion using this secure link: [link removed] ([link removed])

And please share it with your family and friends. It’s a great way to give them hope and let them know about some of the latest advances in the worldwide freedom movement.

Thank you so much! I hope you enjoy this issue!

Best,

Vale Sloane
Director of Development
