After 22 days of dysfunction, House Republicans elected Mike Johnson to be the next Speaker of the House.

While Congress can finally get back to work, let's be clear: Mike Johnson is a MAGA extremist who shouldn't be leading the House of Representatives. Here are just a few reasons why:

1️⃣ Johnson supports Donald Trump's “Big Lie” – The New York Times wrote that Johnson was "a key architect of his party's objections to certifying President Biden's victory."

2️⃣ Johnson is an anti-choice extremist – He openly celebrated the overturning of Roe v. Wade and supports a national abortion ban without exceptions for rape, incest, or life of the mother.

3️⃣ Johnson wants to cut Medicare, Medicaid, & Social Security – He said that cutting these essential programs is his “number one priority.”

4️⃣ Johnson opposes LGBTQ rights – He opposed bipartisan legislation to codify same-sex marriage and even wrote in support of the criminalization of LGBTQ relationships.

5️⃣ Johnson rejects bipartisanship – He voted against bipartisan bills including the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, the reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act, and the CHIPS and Science Act.

Mike Johnson has repeatedly shown he's too extreme to be speaker, but every single House Republican voted to support him.
