This past weekend, Oregon Democrats got together for our biennial Summit in Central Oregon. It got me excited about 2024!

The Summit is a chance for Democrats to get together with colleagues, reaffirm our values, share our ideas, strategize, and meet new friends. I find these conversations inspiring as I am driven by our values of protecting people, our planet, and our fundamental rights.

The Summit often showcases a key race by hosting a candidates’ forum. Not surprisingly, this year it was for Oregon’s 5th congressional district (OR-5) as this seat is on the national radar for Democrats to win the House. Forums enable candidates to share our priorities and show how our values drive our policies. While the race will come down to the great support we have across OR-5, I was delighted to learn that, after I stood onstage with my colleague opponents that day, our fellow Democrats voted me the winner in the unofficial Straw Poll that evening by over 30 points!

I’m the Democrat to flip OR-5 next year, and Oregon Democrats know it.

Together, we can win this seat and help flip the U.S. House of Representatives. Bringing community-centered values back to Congress is a priority for Democrats, unaffiliated voters, and fair-minded Republicans.

It’s going to take a lot of work and support from people like you, John, but we can do it, together. We bridge the urban-rural divide by focusing on our values – to protect people, our planet, and our fundamental rights.
