Oklahoma,

Welcome back to another addition of my weekly e-newsletter. Now that the House has elected a new Speaker, Congress can get back to work before the government funding deadline approaches on November 17th. If this email was forwarded to you, you may subscribe to my e-newsletter here.

After three weeks of uncertainty, House Republicans have finally chosen the 56th Speaker of the House, Rep. Mike Johnson of Louisiana. I was proud to be Speaker Johnson's mentor in the House when he first came to Congress, and I am confident he will be a strong, faith-based conservative leader to advance our legislative priorities.

On Wednesday, I provided an opening statement and questioned witnesses during a Senate Environment and Public Works (EPW) Committee hearing on evaluating material alternatives for single-use plastics. As I told my colleagues, we must allow market-driven solutions— not government overregulation to reduce plastic waste. Watch my EPW committee remarks by clicking HERE

It was great to meet with Chief Douglas Lankford and Miami city officials in Washington this week. We had a productive conversation on how we can coordinate with community and Tribal leaders to navigate water issues and how we can support public/private partnerships to solve local problems. Thanks for making the trip.

Thank you to Oklahoma Secretary of Military and Veterans Affairs Josh Nash for stopping by the office this week. We chatted about defense funding priorities and how we can improve recruitment measures for our military, including through Oklahoma's Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps (JROTC) programs.

I had a great meeting with the Oklahoma Credit Union Association this week. Oklahoma is home to 59 credit unions who serve more than 1.4 million members and employ almost 4,000 individuals across the state. We discussed legislation important to the banking industry as well as legislative updates from Washington, D.C.

This week, I joined Larry Kudlow on Fox Business to discuss the importance of holding Iran accountable for their involvement in supporting Hamas' recent terrorist attacks on Israel and the need to counter Iran with American strength. Check it out here.

Last weekend, U.S. Customs and Border Patrol reported there were 269,735 illegal Southern Border crossings in September, bringing the Fiscal Year 2023 total to 2,475,669. This sets a record for most-ever fiscal year and monthly border crossings. This also brings the total amount of border crossings to 8 million since Joe Biden took office. That's twice the population of Oklahoma.

Americans agree: we must enforce the law, finish border construction, keep the 'Remain-in-Mexico' policy, and stop incentivizing illegal immigration.
