ZIONIST ORGANIZATION OF AMERICA IN-ACTION UPDATE | OCTOBER 27, 2023   Dear Fellow Zionists, Never would we have thought that we would be writing to you as a wave of open, unbridled antisemitism and anti-Zionism – unseen since the Second World War – have taken hold in our country and around the world. The ZOA has always been on the front lines of Jewish activism, fighting every day for the rights and interests of Israel and the Jewish people. Now, as Israel exercises its duty to defend its people after Hamas terrorists breached Israel’s borders and murdered, tortured, and abducted innocent Israelis on October 7th, the ZOA has redoubled its efforts in the U.S. We are committed to ensuring that Jews – in schools, on college campuses, and in their communities – are safe and that America stands firmly with Israel. With antisemitism and anti-Israel sentiment exploding on campuses across the country, the ZOA’s Center for Law & Justice recently alerted hundreds of colleges and universities to the heightened dangers that Jewish students are facing, and demanded that these schools live up to their moral and legal duty to protect Jewish students and provide them with the safe and welcoming learning environment they’re entitled to under Title VI of the Civil Rights Act. After a Cornell professor spoke at a rally and called Hamas’ despicable massacre of Jews “exhilarating” and “energizing,” the ZOA immediately contacted the university’s president and board of trustees, demanding that the professor be terminated. We will not relent, at Cornell and elsewhere, to ensure that all students can be proudly Jewish and pro-Israel without fear for their safety. And we are working around the clock with parents, students, community members, and lawmakers across the country, fighting against antisemitism and anti-Israel falsehoods that not only threaten the Jewish community but every American’s freedom and security. The battle has been hard, and it will only get harder, but we are steadfast in our resolve and we will not let our Jewish brothers and sisters down.
