John, Senator Bob Menendez was charged with being an unregistered lobbyist for Egypt after he allegedly promised the Egyptian government to use his role as the top Democrat on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee to make sure US arms sales to Egypt went through and passed information to the Egyptians about the U.S. embassy in Cairo.
But he’s still serving on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.
As a senator for New Jersey and chair of the Foreign Relations Committee, Menendez has a duty to serve Americans and the Constitution. Rather than protect the public interest, Menendez allegedly used his office to profit.
The people of New Jersey deserve a senator they can trust to act on their behalf, without suspicion of conflicts of interest or attempts to enrich himself. Senator Menendez doesn't fit the bill. He needs to resign.
