Governor Parson Orders Flags to Half-Staff in Honor of Specialist Brian Joshua Snowden

(JEFFERSON CITY, MO) ??Today, Governor Mike Parson announced that he has ordered all U.S. and Missouri Flags to fly at half-staff at all government buildings in Missouri, from sunrise to sunset on Saturday, October 28, 2023, as a mark of respect for Specialist Brian Joshua Snowden.

Specialist Snowden was a United States Army soldier who belonged to D Company, 1st Battalion, 5th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 11th Airborne Division (ARCTIC) in Fort Wainwright. On October 2, 2023, Specialist Snowden passed away in a fatal single-vehicle crash of a military transport vehicle being flipped.

"Brian's strong sense of patriotism and commitment to serving others is an inspiration to us all," Governor Parson said. "This young man took an oath to support and defend the Constitution and the United States and for that he will always be remembered. Our hearts go out to Brian's family and friends."

Specialist Brian Joshua Snowden graduated from Grandview High School in Grandview in 2020. Specialist Snowden felt it was his duty and signed enlistment papers to become a soldier in July 2020.?
