Plus resources to help you push back against legalization Dear John, As you may know, Ohio has a marijuana legalization initiative on the ballot this November, Issue 2. If you are in Ohio, please remember to vote on or before Tuesday, November 7 and vote “NO” on Issue 2. SAM Action is proud to serve on the leadership committee of Protect Ohio, the committee leading the opposition to Measure 2 in Ohio and have worked closely with the ballot committee over the last several months. SAM Action staff and volunteers have been criss-crossing the state to educate Ohioans on the harms of marijuana and commercialization and been a resource with all aspects of the campaign. Our staff and volunteers have done several media interviews and podcasts educating the people of Ohio on the dangers of legalized marijuana. SAM Executive Vice President Luke Niforatos spoke with ABC6 in opposition to Measure 2: "The moment you let industries selling an addictive drug become legal, they will find ways to target and addict younger demographics. That’s how they can stay afloat as a business. I think our kids matter more than our dollars.” PAN Parent and Ohio resident, Corinne LaMarca, represented the opposition on a panel discussing Measure 2 at Otterbein University. She represented the anti-measure 2 position alongside of Ohio state Senator Mark Romanchuk. SAM Executive Vice President Luke Niforatos spoke with WPDE in opposition to Measure 2: "This drug is no longer the marijuana of the 1970s. It’s extremely potent and much more dangerous than we have ever seen it before." SAM’s Government Affairs Manager, Jordan Davidson, spoke with Columbus Morning News on the dangers of legalized marijuana. Jordan also shared about his recovery from dependence and addiction to high potency THC vapes. SAM’s Chief of Staff, Jaime Zerbe, spoke with the hosts of The Narrative on the dangers of legalization: “Are we going to incentivize an industry that only does well when you are physically and mentally dependent on something they produce? Or are we going to incentivize living a life that’s free of substances, living a life that fulfills your purpose.” PAN Parent and Ohio resident, Corinne LaMarca spoke with an ABC affiliate in opposition to Measure 2. She shared the impact that losing her daughter in a car crash resulting from a driver who was high on medical marijuana had upon her perspective in opposition to Measure 2. If you are in Ohio, please speak out against legalization, you have more influence than you think you do. Here are some other ways you can get involved before the election: Write a letter to the editor in your local newspaper asking your neighbors to vote against legalization and sharing why you are concerned about legalization. Here are some helpful guidelines from the University of Kansas on writing and submitting a good letter to the editor. The Protect Ohio Families website will have additional talking points and details. You can also use the SAM website for research information and talking points. Share your thoughts on social media and encourage your friends and family to vote against the ballot initiative. You can share any of the resources we have on our website or any of the resources on the Protect Ohio Families website. Organize a door knocking campaign around your neighborhood to educate your neighbors on the ballot initiative. Last but not least, don't forget to vote on or before November 7! No matter what happens, we will never give up on the Buckeye state. We will continue to work hard in every state because for us, this is something worth fighting for. Thank you for all of your hard work and efforts to help us defeat legalization. Sincerely, Dr. Kevin Sabet President & CEO SAM Action FOLLOW US SAM Action | 107 S.
