The House Oversight and Accountability Committee continues to uncover new and damning information related to the influence peddling schemes of the Biden family. Recently, we have obtained new bank records that detail a $200,000 payment from James and Sara Biden to President Joe Biden in the form of a personal check. This new information comes after Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer issued three separate subpoenas for Hunter and James Biden’s personal and business bank records. As you may have guessed, there’s so much more to this story.

In 2018, James Biden, the President’s brother, received $600,000 in loans from Americore – a financially distressed and failing rural hospital operator. According to bankruptcy court documents, James Biden received these loans “based upon representations that his last name, ‘Biden,’ could ‘open doors’ and that he could obtain a large investment from the Middle East based on his political connections.” On March 1st of that year, Americore wired a $200,000 loan into James and Sara Biden’s bank account – not their business bank account. On that very same day, James Biden cut a $200,000 check from his personal bank account to Joe Biden that he designated as a “loan repayment”.

At an Oversight Committee hearing this week, I asked the IRS Commissioner about the proper tax treatment of a “loan” repayment like this. He admitted that this loan repayment sounds like a taxable gift which will help us follow the money—right to President Biden’s tax returns. This $200,000 check to Joe Biden raises a litany of questions regarding his family’s influence peddling schemes. Here are just a few that are top of mind for the Oversight Committee:

  • Does President Biden have documents proving he lent such a large sum of money to his brother and what the terms were?
  • Did he have similar financial arrangements with other family members that led them to make similar large payments to him?
  • Did he know that the same day James Biden wrote him a check for $200,000, James Biden had just received a loan for the exact same amount from business dealings with a company that was in financial distress and failing?

Rest assured that I will continue to work alongside my colleagues on the Oversight Committee to deliver the accountability and transparency that the American people both demand and deserve.

ICYMI: My Latest Op-Ed

Recently, Representative Michelle Steel (R-CA) joined me in penning an op-ed in the Washington Times about the House Committee on Education and the Workforce’s effort to combat malign foreign influence on college campuses. Foreign dollars come with strings attached. These donations can allow our enemies to infiltrate America’s campuses and subvert our nation’s interests. While the Biden administration fails to act on this serious threat, the Committee is working to protect America’s colleges and universities.
