Hi john,

Today, I want to write to you about an important new caucus I helped create in the Senate this month: The Bipartisan Mental Health Caucus.

Like millions of Americans, this group of Senators has been personally affected by someone’s struggles, or our own struggles, with mental health. And we are ready to tackle the mental health crisis impacting people across the country.

I’ve openly shared my story of depression before [[link removed]] — because I want people to know they are not alone. Millions of Americans live this story, either themselves or through someone they love and care about deeply.

It’s time to destigmatize talking about mental health and start taking meaningful action in the Senate to help people who are struggling. We have a moral obligation to extend a helping hand to those who need it, those who need help but might not ask for it, and those who might not even know they need it.

We can and must take action to address the mental health crisis — and I look forward to sharing the progress we make on this important, personal issue.

Finally, I’ll leave you with this: If you or someone you love is suffering from a mental health issue, know that you are not alone. And I’ll be fighting to get the resources and help that people need.

— Tina
