Hi John,
After more than three weeks of chaos in the House of Representatives, Rep. Mike Johnson (R-LA) has been elected by Congressional Republicans as the new Speaker of the House.
With this shift in Republican leadership, Congress has less than a month to pass responsible funding legislation — that fully funds the government and continues to advance critical climate programs that are already creating jobs and reducing climate pollution.
But here’s why we’re concerned: Johnson is a known climate science denier and has routinely voted against clean energy, electric vehicles and protecting public health. TLDR: He poses a threat to climate progress.
His concerning record is a clear red flag for our climate and health, which is why we need your help. Take action and urge your Members of Congress to defend essential investments in reducing climate pollution.

When the vast majority (61%) of Americans believe that climate change is affecting their community, we know we need leaders to step up and demand action. We cannot let the far-right put this progress at risk.
That’s why we’re asking advocates from across the country to raise their voices and show support for the climate and clean energy programs we’ve fought so hard for.
Will you join us and fight for responsible funding that meets the nation’s climate goals, promotes energy security and funds core government responsibilities, like protecting clean air and providing safe drinking water? Take action and show your support, today!
