John,
It’s truly hard to keep up with all the news these days, especially with the presidential primaries taking up a lot of our attention. But we can’t let news like this fall under the radar:
Yesterday, the U.S. Supreme Court heard oral arguments in a case that could contribute to the gutting of Roe v. Wade , the 1973 landmark case that has since guaranteed the constitutional right to an abortion.
The state of Louisiana is trying to require abortion providers to have medically unnecessary and often impossible-to-obtain admitting privileges at local hospitals -- identical to a Texas abortion restriction that the Supreme Court ruled unconstitutional in 2016. If Louisiana succeeds in this case, access to abortion care in Louisiana will be decimated, leaving one million women of reproductive age currently residing in the state with access to only one abortion provider. And many Republican-controlled states will follow suit.
Let’s be clear: clinics will close. When clinics close, communities all across this country will lose critical health services, including abortion care. The burden of these restrictions and closures will fall hardest on communities of color, young people, immigrants, and low-income communities. We cannot let that happen.
This is the first time President Trump’s notably anti-choice Supreme Court Justices Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh will get to have a say on the issue, a stark reminder of the fact that elections have consequences.
If you’re like me and you’re tired of these predominantly old, white men in power trying to control what we do with our bodies, add your name to oppose Republicans’ attacks on reproductive choice in the courts and legislatures now. [[link removed]]

Until we kick those attacking our rights out of office at the ballot box, we must continue to hold them accountable.
