Friend, it's Liz from Brady. I wanted to make sure that you saw Kris's message about the tragic shooting in Lewiston, Maine, where at least 18 people were killed by a gunman armed with an assault style weapon in a matter of minutes.
|
At Brady, we're mourning with Lewiston for the lives lost. We're also channeling our own grief and frustration into action: We're calling on Congress to pass common-sense gun safety laws that will save lives. But we're up against a powerful and ruthless gun lobby, and we need your help to fight back.
|
That's why I'm personally asking once again: Please, will you add your name to our petition before midnight to call on Congress to finally end the gun violence epidemic and ban assault weapons? So many activists have already stepped up, but I'm counting on you join them, friend.

Friend,
18 people are dead and 13 people are injured after mass shootings in Lewiston, ME. People were gunned down in a restaurant and at a bowling alley – places that should have been safe parts of everyday life, turned deadly with a firearm.
Right now, the shooter is still at large and Brady continues to monitor the situation. As we wait for more details to emerge, there is an incontrovertible truth of this mass shooting: The community of Lewiston, ME, will never be the same.
Devastatingly, Lewiston is not unique in this truth. Far too many communities have been changed forever by a mass shooting – this year alone there have been 564. Rampant tragedy should not be the norm of our nation. Americans deserve to feel safe in their daily lives and not fear that theirs may be the next city making headlines.
|
In the face of tonight’s most recent tragedy, I’m asking you to raise your voice to call for change. We must stay strong and stand with this community in shock and mourning. Please, friend, will add your name to our urgent petition calling for Congress to ban assault weapons?
