Friend, imagine being a Southern Resident orca. You are
one of the most recognizable killer whales -- with mostly black smooth skin, a
white underside, and white patches near your eyes. You can grow up to about 30 feet long and can weigh up to 6 tons! To stay nourished, you must maintain your blubber layer to support your ability to swim, regulate your body heat, and stay healthy in times of
short food supply.
As you streamline through the ocean hungry and eager to eat, you are in search
for your primary food source -- Chinook salmon. You go to your favorite spot
where all the salmon usually gather, but all the fish are gone. Instead, the water is green and murky -- YUCK! If you do not eat, you will become weak and soon DIE of starvation and malnutrition.
Cruise ship pollution is contributing to the harm and destruction of our marine
ecosystem. The harmful toxic waste from Big Cruise is dumped into the ocean along with
excessive noise pollution that disrupts nearby communities and marine life.
Scrubbers were supposed to be one of the solutions to clean up the cruise
industry’s dirty smokestacks. Instead, these scrubbers merely convert the industry’s dirty air pollution into toxic water pollution.
If we do not act soon, Big Cruise will continue harming our oceans, people, and
the planet. Friend, will you help by using your voice to
speak up against cruise pollution and corporate greed?

[[link removed]]Cruise ship pollution has a significant impact on our oceans, Friend. The excessive waste can lead to oxygen depletion and the spread of
pathogenic bacteria; this causes toxic algae blooms, dead zones, and other damaging impacts to the marine
ecosystem. The toxic waste and noise pollution from cruise ships drives away fish that nearby communities and marine life rely on for survival. It is also putting the remaining 75 Southern resident orca whales at risk of EXTINCTION.
One of the worst offenders -- Carnival Corporation -- carried 11,000 tons of hazardous heavy fuel oil in a single year through Arctic waters -- nearly three times as much as its
largest competitor.
Big Cruise and Big Polluters don’t much care about the future of our planet when
their pockets are full. But we know that environmentalists like YOU will not allow corporate greed to
destroy our oceans. Friend, we need 2,956 more signatures to protect the
remaining vulnerable orca whales from EXTINCTION, people, and the planet. Add
your name by 11:59pm TONIGHT before it’s too late! >>
