Since yesterday, I’ve heard from voters concerned about the new Speaker of the House. I am, too.
The new Speaker, Mike Johnson, is a far-right extremist and a seditionist who worked to overturn the 2020 presidential election. Yet Nick LaLota, my Republican opponent in NY-01, has given the Speaker his full-throated endorsement.
Johnson has advocated for cuts to Medicare and Social Security, opposed marriage equality, and sponsored a nationwide abortion ban without exceptions. These awful policies paint a stark contrast to the values we hold dear.
My opponent stated that Johnson “understands Long Island’s priorities,” but these regressive policies do not match voters’ priorities or values. With your support, we can stand firm against this extremism and work toward a brighter, more inclusive future for all who call Suffolk County home.
