Right now, most of us are getting ready for Halloween — what’s supposed to be the scariest night of the year. But seeing what’s been happening in Congress over the last month has been plenty scary for me.
First, extremist Republicans drove our government to the point of shutting down.
Then, the House stalled out as it took four nominees and five votes to confirm a new Speaker.
Now, they’ve settled on Mike Johnson, a far-right Republican whose record is terrifying.
Johnson is anti-abortion and anti-LGBTQ. He’s tried to slash Social Security and Medicare, and was a driving force in the effort to overturn the results of the 2020 election by Republicans. His agenda is the wrong fit for Arizona — and the wrong fit for the country. Nevertheless, my opponent voted for him.
Republicans in the House, including my opponent, are all about chaos and extremism. It’s all tricks and no treats.
In Congress, I will fight to invest in the local economy, support our seniors, and protect our fundamental rights.
