In a new blog post, Start Early Washington&rsquo;s Alex Patricelli shares how she reclaimed her Native culture and traditions with her children through the celebration of intertribal canoe journeys at the 2023 Paddle to Muckleshoot.







Start Early celebrates the release of the &ldquo;Flourishing Children, Healthy Communities and a Stronger Nation, The U.S. Early Years Climate Action Plan&rdquo; &ndash; recommendations developed by the U.S. Early Years Climate Action Task Force to reimagine the policies and practices in which we serve our youngest learners.


Since the summer of 2022, Start Early President Diana Rauner, has served as Co-Chair of the Task Force focusing on understanding how climate change affects young children. They gather input from early learning providers and families to find better ways to help children and families adapt to a changing world as they grow.

This Hispanic Heritage Month, our early childhood experts created a handy resource to help introduce your child to inspiring stories and at-home activities that celebrate the achievements, culture and legacy of the Latino community.


For young children, it&rsquo;s important to show and appreciate the differences within each Latino community. Highlighting cultures by showcasing native attire, delicacies, country flags, differences in written language and general images of each culture help to create a shared understanding of what being a Latino means. This also helps Latino children create an identity and a sense of pride to be a Latino.
