Tidester Jakeya Johnson shares how her graduate school project led to a partnership with Maryland Sen. Ariana Kelly to pass reproductive rights legislation. The legislation mandates Maryland public higher education institutions to offer students comprehensive reproductive health services, including emergency contraception. In recognition of Johnson’s achievement, the American Society for Emergency Contraception recently awarded Johnson the Ellertson Award for Innovation in Emergency Contraception.
