Last year, Eric became the first openly gay federal representative elected in Illinois state history. He also happens to be the only trained meteorologist serving in Congress today.

[link removed] [[link removed]] Eric’s victory was historic for the LGTBQ community... and for meteorologists!But Eric’s history-making story didn’t come so easily. And unfortunately, it didn't happen without discrimination along the way.

You see, when Eric got his first job as a weatherman in East Texas, he was pushed out for being gay. The directive was as clear as it gets:

“We can’t have a gay meteorologist at channel 7, Eric.”

These days, homophobia to this level would be unthinkable for most. Back then, it was commonplace; but Eric held strong and went on to have a rich, 20-year career serving as his hometown meteorologist in Illinois.

I’m so proud of Eric and the path he’s paved for our community. He’s been an inspiration for me personally, and for the LGBTQ+ community across the country.

With the GOP pushing discriminatory laws, book bans, and outright hate in recent years, it’s never been more important to have strong LGBTQ leadership in Congress. I'm hoping you’ll join me in supporting Eric’s campaign today:
