After nearly three weeks of paralysis in Congress, House Republicans finally selected a new Speaker.

Mike Johnson is an extremist Republican from Louisiana who played a key role in the attempt to overturn the 2020 election. He opposes democracy, abortion, LGBTQ rights, and so much more.

That is the agenda Lori tied herself to when she voted for him yesterday. And that’s why it’s critical that we get the word out about Lori’s record. Like Mike Johnson, Lori cast doubt on Joe Biden’s election. Like him, Lori wants to restrict access to abortion healthcare.

Now that House Republicans have selected an extremist as Speaker, we only have a few days to make sure we’re ready to defeat Lori, flip this seat, and win back the House. Our fundamental rights are at stake.

The sad truth is that Oregon deserves better from Lori — but I am not surprised. Her voting record rolls back reproductive rights and slashes funding for veterans, housing, and nutrition programs for Oregon families.

Now that she has helped elect an extremist Speaker of the House, we know she will continue to follow the party line and vote against working families, our environment, and our fundamental rights.

That is why we have to defeat her, together.
