Team, political insiders anticipate that there will be one or more deep-pocketed self-funders who get into the Republican race soon, so here’s who to look out for:

There’s Eric Hovde — the wealthy California businessman who’s willing to spend $20 million of his own personal fortune to defeat Tammy.

Then there’s Scott Mayer — yet another megamillionaire with the ability to self-fund his own campaign with access to a virtually unlimited warchest.

And we can’t forget David Clarke — the former Milwaukee County Sheriff and right-wing extremist has also floated a Senate bid as Republicans make preparations to mount bids against Tammy.

No matter who jumps into this race, we’ll have our work cut out for us if we want to keep Wisconsin blue, reelect Tammy, and defend our Democratic Senate majority.
