John,
March is Women’s History Month, and while we have a lot to celebrate, it’s important to remember we still have more work to do. This is one of the reasons I’m running for Congress. There is no doubt we’d be further along if women were the ones making decisions about women’s issues.
This district, NY-10, has not been represented by a woman for 50 years — when Bella Abzug was in Congress.

When I first decided to run for office, I looked around and saw that at every level of government I was represented by a white man. As a government official myself, I was often the only mother with a young child in the room. I was hiding a stress-induced illness because I was afraid my colleagues would think I was pregnant.
Seventy percent of moms with kids under the age of 18 work, yet we’re still fighting for equal pay. Women earn 80 cents for every dollar earned by a man, Black women earn 61 cents, Native American women 58 cents, and Latinas 53 cents.
Donate $19 now in honor of the 19th Amendment and Women’s History Month.

Too many of our federal policies are outdated and don’t reflect the reality of women and families today. It’s no wonder we don’t have equal pay, affordable childcare, or paid family leave — the people who are disproportionately impacted by these issues do not have a seat at the table to fight for them.
When I get to Congress, I promise to fight for my mother’s generation, my daughter’s generation — and everyone in-between.
All my best,
Lindsey
