John,
18 people are dead and 13 more are injured after mass shootings in Lewiston, ME, last night, in one of the worst tragedies in our country this year. People were gunned down in a restaurant and at a bowling alley – places that should have been safe parts of everyday life, turned deadly with a firearm.
Right now, the entire state of Maine remains in fear as the shooter is still at large. Lewiston and neighboring cities are sheltering in place. Schools have cancelled classes, stores and restaurants are closed. Brady is continuing to closely monitor the situation, but as we await more news, we will not wait to condemn this heinous violence and call for change.
This horrifying situation has become commonplace in our nation. Far too many communities have been changed forever by a mass shooting – 565 this year alone. Rampant tragedy should not be the norm of our nation. Americans deserve to feel safe in their daily lives and not fear that theirs may be the next city making headlines.
In the face of tragedy, I’m asking you to raise your voice to call for change. We must stay strong and stand with this community in shock and mourning. Please, John, will add your name to our urgent petition calling for immediate action to address gun violence? [[link removed]]
