No Fracking Way

What to Know: Houstonians who consider themselves Democrats won’t support a Green New Deal if it means a ban on hydraulic fracturing (fracking) and the resulting job losses.

The TPPF Take: Fracking is responsible for our current boom in energy and economic activity.

“Unemployment is the lowest it has been in decades, and it could go even lower,” says TPPF’s Jason Isaac. “Wages are rising, and consumer confidence is sky-high. Energy is driving all of those indicators. Cheap, abundant, concentrated energy are fueling our boom. A ban on fracking would bring all of that to a halt.”

It’s All About Relationships

What to Know: A new piece in National Review by U.S. Rep. Chip Roy explains that direct primary care—in which a patient receives health care on a subscription basis—could help solve America’s health care dilemma.

The TPPF Take: We need stronger relationships between patients and physicians, not more government interference into that relationship.

“Further government intrusion into the health care system is not what Americans need,” says TPPF’s David Balat. “A far better solution is to rebuild the relationship between doctors and patients, as direct primary care physicians are doing with this innovative new model. We need to close the gap between doctors and patients, not widen it.”

The Rule of Law

What to Know: The U.S. Supreme Court has sided with the Trump administration on the issue of “sanctuary cities,” which refused to cooperate with the federal government on the enforcement of immigration laws.

The TPPF Take: America is a nation of laws.

“We must have borders and we must enforce our laws impartially and consistently,” says TPPF’s Kevin Roberts. “We’re doing neither. And with every day the trust gap widens. The crisis at the border is real, and so is the crisis of faith in our government. Our elected officials can address both, by keeping their promises and enforcing our laws.”
