The climate crisis is at our doorstep. Just take a look at all our Food & Water Watch community has experienced in the last few months.
Our members in New York City reported being homebound during extreme flooding. Members in Florida have had to evacuate their homes several times this year due to extreme storms — and the hurricane season is only half over. And, a former Food & Water Watch team member’s house was destroyed in the devastating Maui fires in August.
More and more people are feeling the dangerous impacts of climate change — first hand. We need bold climate action — now.
The fortunate among us have experienced most of the climate crisis so far through video clips and devastating photos online. The unfathomable flooding in Pakistan and China last year, images of the great barrier reef acidifying off the coast of Australia, and the wildfires in Canada.
It’s heartbreaking and terrifying, so scary it feels unreal. The threat is here, and around the world, right now. And we can’t afford to wait for our decision-makers to do the right thing.
Food & Water Watch and its affiliated organization, Food & Water Action, are advocacy groups with a common mission to protect our food, water and climate.
