The EQUAL Act is a proposed bill that would end the racist crack/powder
cocaine sentencing disparity. Currently, people with crack cocaine charges
have been hit with way harsher penalties than those arrested for the same
amount of powder cocaine.

John,
As we forge ahead in our relentless pursuit to pass the EQUAL Act, the
theme of resilience remains our guiding principle. Resilience is what has
brought us this far. It's the grit and determination that fuels us when
the road gets tough, the unyielding spirit that says, "We will not be
stopped or silenced. "

Previously, we shared the stories of [ [link removed] ]Robert Wood and Celia Colon, two
individuals whose perseverance in the face of unjust sentencing laws is
nothing short of inspiring. Robert transformed his life while serving a
25-year sentence, becoming an advocate for justice and prison reform.
Celia emerged from her time in prison as a powerful voice for systemic
change. Their determination serves as a beacon for all of us as we
navigate the arduous and difficult politics of passing the EQUAL Act.
But let's not forget: Robert and Celia are just two among tens of
thousands who have been, or are currently, incarcerated due to the racist
and unjust crack cocaine sentencing laws. Each one has a story, a family,
and a life that has been irrevocably altered. Our resilience must extend
to them, fueling our collective efforts to pass the EQUAL Act.
