Friend – I'll let you in on a little-known secret: I'm a Scrabble fanatic (in fact, playing that word gets you at least 12 points!).

I don't have much free time these days – but when I do, you can find Connie and me out on our deck fully engrossed in a game. Sometimes our rescue dogs Franklin and Walter join in, but their spelling is a little "ruff." 

It's not just the wordplay that's exciting to me, it's also the history. Scrabble was created by an unemployed architect during the Great Depression. The chairman of Macy's discovered the game while on vacation and helped make it a​​​​​​​ huge hit.

Scrabble's success story reminds me of the American dream and all of the reasons why our fight for the Dignity of Work is so important. The 1930s were a tough time for our country, but the New Deal and many critical advances for the labor movement came out of that period: better hours, a guaranteed minimum wage, and the right to unionize.

Today, I'm fighting in the Senate to keep delivering progress for workers in Ohio and across the country – but I need your help. I'm facing my toughest reelection yet, and the only way I can defend my seat is with grassroots support from folks like you.
