DAV I Help Veterans

John,
I never saw myself as a female soldier. I was just a soldier in the U.S. Army. I was a part of the team like everyone else -- and I was a part of that team for 21 years.
Through my years in the service, I've witnessed the many inequities women experience in the military and later as veterans. And sometimes I've felt those inequities firsthand, like when I requested a female-specific prosthesis for my knee replacement and the VA doctor said they never considered getting any that were made for women.

From sexual trauma to increased risk for suicide and homelessness, the challenges women veterans face are vast, and the root of the problem often lies deep.
That's why this election year, DAV is committed to shining a light on the most pressing issues affecting women veterans every day.
We're putting the pressure on Congress -- it's time to pass comprehensive legislation to address the inequities women veterans face. We must inspire a monumental culture shift in the veteran community that recognizes the contributions of women in the military and helps create a more inclusive and comprehensive system for all.
In honor of International Women's Day this Sunday, please make a gift to join us in the fight for equality. Together, we can honor the brave women veterans of yesterday, fight for change for the women veterans of today and create a better world for the women veterans of tomorrow.
