Well, John, Republicans finally elected a new Speaker of the House and it’s not good news. The new Speaker is a man named Mike Johnson – who Rep. Matt Gaetz calls “MAGA Mike” – and he’s Donald Trump’s hand-picked election-denier-in-chief. He was one of the chief architects in Congress working to throw out Arizona’s votes for Joe Biden and rig the election for Donald Trump. MAGA Mike also wants to ban abortion across the country, end same-sex marriage, and cut Social Security and Medicare. We could go on and on about how awful MAGA Mike is but we always knew the Republicans would pick an extremist because that’s who they are.
The good news is, with Raquel as our candidate, we have a chance to send someone to Congress who has experience taking on extreme right-wing Republicans at the ballot box and in the legislature – and winning!
