Folks, House Republicans just elected Mike Johnson, an ultraconservative Donald Trump ally, as Speaker.

Johnson is more than just a buddy of Donald Trump’s — he even voted to overturn the 2020 election results and served as a lawyer on his impeachment defense team.

He also said the Supreme Court’s decision to reject decades of precedent and overturn Roe v. Wade was a “joyous occasion,” has a history of downplaying the threat of climate change, and has voted against LGBTQ+ equality.

This is the kind of extreme agenda we can expect if Republicans win the Senate next fall. To make matters worse, Mitch McConnell only needs to flip two seats to regain the Senate majority.
