Dear Friend,
The Iditarod begins in just two days. Hundreds of dogs will soon be driven to
the point of exhaustion running in this barbaric race. Some may not even live
to see the finish line.
The race is so deadly that its official rules call some dog deaths an
"Unpreventable Hazard."
PETA is determined to make this the last Iditarod that exploits dogs—and we
need the support of compassionate people like you if we're to succeed.
Dogs desperately need our help before the Iditarod begins. Please make a
difference for animals by donating just $3 or more today.

More than 150 dogs have died in the Iditarod since it began—many running so far
past the point of exhaustion that they inhale their own vomit—and dogs' lives
before the perilous death race isn't any better.
At one musher's dog yard, an undercover investigator observed workers hitting
dogs in the face to make them line up in front of sleds and to "listen." Even
when dogs' paws were torn open and bleeding or their tongues froze to metal
harness lines, they often didn't receive the rest or care that they needed.
Some were denied water even after training for hours on end—or became so thin
from the watery, rotten and/or moldy "stew" made from raw meat that they were
fed that their ribs and hip bones jutted out from beneath their fur.
One dog was even reportedly dragged to death during training.
PETA members are leading the way toward ending the Iditarod and other deadly
forms of entertainment, and we need your support to make sure this year's race
is the last. Please give right now, even if it's just $3 to fund our campaign to stop the Iditarod.

Thanks to the generosity of supporters like you, PETA is making landmark
progress to expose and end the abusive practices of the Iditarod.
Major companies—including Coca-Cola, Jack Daniel's, State Farm, and Wells
Fargo—have stopped sponsoring the death race after hearing from PETA and
thousands of our supporters. And through headline-grabbing "dog graveyard" demonstrations; car-smashing
protests at auto shows; a recent ad blitz in Anchorage, Alaska; thousands of
online actions; and more, PETA is keeping the pressure on Chrysler and other
holdouts to make the same compassionate decision.
We need all the resources we can muster to strengthen this vital campaign—and
that's why we're turning to you. None of us can give up until the Iditarod is
completely dog-free. The race begins in just two days, so there's no time to
waste! Pitch in to help dogs and other animals by making a gift of $3 or more today.
